Eggs-ellent News!

Y'all. Have you heard? Eggs are expensive. It's literally less costly to make eggs out of yarn than it is to buy a dozen at your local grocery! With that in mind - and Easter being less than two months away - we though we'd show you a couple of adorbs crocheted egg projects that won't bust your budget like the real thing might. Whether you're getting a jump on the holiday or just longing for an omelet...we've got you covered.

Everything here is make-able using our wiiiide array of Ricorumi DK but we also want to mention the arrival of Ricorumi's chenille (!) Nilli Nilli, which comes in themed-color boxes of ten shades, all of which are perfect for these eggsquisite patterns (we'll stop with the egg puns now. Maybe).

First up: Zeens and Roger's Amigurumi Easter Eggs (pattern right here, along with a link to a YouTube tutorial!), which build on the idea of a simple egg decorated to the pastel max however you like! Regular Ricorumi DK works great here...but we think fuzzy wuzzy Nilli Nilli would be big fun too!

We also love Lindsey Roe's cheeky Egg Whole & Fried Amigurumi - whole eggs accompanied by a delicious-looking fried counterpart, which are absolutely perfect in Ricorumi DK. Hey, we're fairly certain it's still cheaper than a trip to Waffle House.

Link roundup, just in case!

The Tabard Tie Vest in Deluxe DK Tweed...plus BONUS SOCKS TALK!

When we found out that one of our favorite shop yarns - Deluxe DK Tweed - had been (sob!) discontinued, we bought up all we could so we could keep telling you about it for just a bit longer! That box has arrived and the yarn awaits your touching and squishing!

Universal's Aubrey Busek has a great on-trend-right-now pattern for it that we're making heart eyes over, the Tabard Tie Vest. Layer an extra touch of sophistication onto any outfit with this piece, which takes classic style and adds some fun with a textured diamond pattern and adjustable side ties.

Deluxe DK Tweed is a delicious superwash wool/viscose/acrylic (90/3/7) blend that is next-to-skin soft and a pretty great choice for late-winter into early-spring seasonal layering pieces like the Tabard.

It's a free pattern via Ravelry; just click through to see how many balls you might need for your size! The model is worked up in "Smoke," but we've got over a dozen colors...from subtle neutrals to almost-juicy jewel tones.

If socks are more your thing, visit Haus of Yarn Newsletter 756 and eyeball the Blue Spruce socks! We might not have a couple of those colors, but the great thing about Deluxe DK is that almost any combo of colors works. Now you know why we're sad about its impending disappearance!
