Thumbs Up for Hitchhiker!

We're always on the hunt for a little portable "always-know-where-you-are-in-your-row" kinda knitting and Hitchhiker is the perfect solution! Worked in Urth Yarns Unique Cotton - a 100% cotton DK weight self-striping yarn - it's perfect for this sweltering summer heat!

Our sample is worked with just one skein (color 1074) and measures 55 1/2" x 10 1/4". Because the garter stitch knitting starts at one end, you can stop anytime, bind off and end up with a useful neckerchief, shawlette or shawl; a perfect project to knock out in between more complicated ones!

The pattern is written for fingering weight yarn, but we used DK (and therefore a larger needle - try it on a US5). One skein produced 28 "teeth"; if you want it longer, get two skeins and keep on knitting!

New Geshi...Perfect for Nightshift!

Just in! Four glorious shades of Geshi; a blend of viscose, cotton, silk, and wool in a DK weight. There are quite a few projects at Ravelry that use two skeins (one skein each of two different colors) for a spring/summer version of the Nightshift Shawl that we're all so crazy for! Check them out HERE! Geshi's subtle color shift is amplified in Nightshift by working a few rows from one color of Geshi, then changing to another throughout the simple slip stitched pattern.

Magpie Swanky & Feather!

We just received a massive restock of a trio of shop fave Magpie bases - Swanky Sock, Swanky DK and Feather! Both Swanky Sock and Swanky DK are silky blends of merino, cashmere and a bit of nylon with beautiful drape and sheen. Feather is a lace weight silk/mohair blend that, when held together with a strand of either Swanky Sock or DK, is a perfect combination for creating sweaters, shawls and hats! We love the fabric created when holding these yarns together; there's just a little "extra" in the fabric produced when pairing them up!

Here's a round up of some of our favorite patterns that would be ideal for combining them:

No Frills Sweater (top right): Swanky Sock + Feather
Kobuk Hat: Swanky DK + Feather
Love Note Sweater: Swanky Sock + Feather
Sprouted Shawl: Swanky Sock + Feather
Champagne Cardigan (top left): Swanky Dk + Feather
