Yearlong Knitalong: September | Yipes Stripes Cowl

Join us next Monday, August 31, from 11-noon for September's installment of the 2020 Haus of Yarn Yearlong Knitalong!

 

We'll be working on the Yipes Stripes Cowl from designer Ann Weaver! This cowl is a cornucopia of striping techniques, including a turned hem, two-color and three-color Latvian braids, large stripes, small stripes, slipped stitches, and a two-color bind-off. You'll need approximately 90 yards each of five colors. Weepaca from Big Bad Wool is a perfect compliment to this pattern; each skein has 95 yards and with over 50 available colors to choose from, there's a plethora of possible color combinations!

New This Week: The Basketweave Hat

The Basketweave Hat is a cozy, one skein project you can whip up in just a few hours (if that!). Knit up in super-bulky Be Wool, the simple stitch pattern allows the speckled yarn to shine. Be Wool is a perfect super-bulky yarn for creating quick projects. A blend of acrylic and wool, it's machine-washable, low-maintenance, and easy to care for! Top off this hat with a faux fur pom - it attaches with a snap so the wearer can decide if it's a "pom day" or not!

Restocked This Week: Cross Stitch Stuff!

We love these eco-friendly mesh bags from Cocoknits for keeping carefully wound cakes of yarn tidy and preventing them from tangling. They're like yarn bowls... but because they're made of mesh, they're a bit easier to travel with - just shove them in your tote and GO!!! We fell more in love with them when we realized the mesh fabric is a perfect canvas for cross stitch! Meg used the Peacock & Fig alphabet chart and some cotton embroidery floss from Nutmeg Fiber Arts to stitch up this adorable "Knit" sample. Hot tip: the chart helps make custom, monogrammed gifts easy-peasy!
