On Our Needles: Jawbreaker!

We've had Jawbreaker Sock Yarn sets from Doug -- the dyer behind KnittinBro Yarns -- for a bit and have finally had an opportunity to get some on our needles! Just looking at our progress so far sure brings a smile our way! Named after a favorite childhood candy, each set is packed with a mini-skein for a contrasting toe and heel color. We're in the midst of working up Jawbreaker Bubblegum Pink using Mary Lukas' So Vanilla Sock pattern. We love this pattern; it includes three different sizes, but it's also a vanilla pattern -- which makes it easy to size up or down from the sizes given. Instructions include both the "fish lips kiss heel" and a short row heel...you choose!

Yearlong Knitalong - March Edition!

Join us today (Monday, March 2nd), from 11-noon or this Saturday (March 7th) from 11-noon for March's installment of the 2020 Haus of Yarn Yearlong Knitalong!

We'll be working on the Gramps cardigan from Tin Can Knits! We love this pattern for a couple of reasons: its sizing runs from newborn to an adult 4XL and it's great for learning various techniques. Gramps utilizes top-down construction, and after picking up stitches for the button band, you'll work some short rows for the fabulous shawl collar. So many new things! If you decide to add the pockets, you'll pick up stitches for those as well!

We have two samples in the store -- one uses Malabrigo Rios and the other (which is prepped to demonstrate allll those techniques!) is knit with Plymouth's Merino Hand Dyed in Autumn!

If you’re working on the Afghan Block-a-Month Knitalong, we'll meet at 1pm on those same days. We'll be working from the trusty Haus of Yarn Block-a-Month Afghan Knit-A-Long book, written by our fearless founder Carolyn Smith. With 48 blocks to choose from, you have a lot of leeway to make exactly the afghan you want!
