World Wide Knit in Public Day

World Wide Knit in Public Day!

World Wide Knit in Public Day is this Saturday, June 10th! This is the largest knitter-run event in the world and has been going on since 2005, with the sole goal of having knitters come together in public and enjoy each other's company. Knit and Crochet Tennessee is hosting meet-ups; if you're interested, join in on the fun at one of the following locations: Cool Springs Galleria, Rivergate Mall or Opry Mills -- pick which one is closest to you and meet in the Food Court areas, 10 am - 12 pm. Happy Knitting, Y'all!

Socks

Summertime!

Many of you are beginning your summer vacations and we've definitely noticed an up-tick of people looking for easy, portable projects. This one isn't a new pattern, but it fits the bill perfectly: Rose City Rollers is an easy, roll-top ankle sock pattern perfect for summer knitting. These socks are knit from the top down, with a traditional heel flap and heel turn, and are available in three size options. It's a great pattern for beginning sock knitters, and a fun quick knit for more advanced ones.

Choose a skein of Plymouth Happy Feet Splash, a luscious, soft blend of merino wool with a touch of nylon for added strength that's hand-dyed with bright, colorful dyes that give a fun funky vibe to you project (we literally used the least-fun colorway for our sample - go figure! - but the rest of them are eye-popping!). Or how about a skein of Smooth Sock from Junkyarn, a hand-dyed yarn in a fantastic palette of pop-culture inspired colorways. We're pretty sure your feet will be as thrilled with this yarn as we are.

Fixing Mistakes

Fixing Mistakes!

Let's face it: we ALL make mistakes when we knit. We drop a stich or forget a yarnover and don't see it until the next row...and sometimes we're not quiiiite sure how to fix it! If this sounds a little too familiar to you, you need to take Sue's class! If you take just ONE class this year...we think this one is THE ONE! It's a super-empowering feeling when you make a mistake but you know you can, in fact, fix it! Saturday, June 17th, 11am-1pm, $45. Call the shop to register! 615-354-1007. Note: there's homework required for this one, you'll find the details here.
