Today's the Day! THE BIG FINALE! The Yearlong Knitalong: October
Join us in the store at 11am today, October 3rd, as we kick off our FINAL installment of the 2015/2016 Yearlong Knitalong! This time around, we'll be working on Susie Rogers' Reading Mitts. This one-skein pattern has become a fast favorite here at Haus. Wear them when knitting outdoors or indoors on a chilly day, or just layer them over your leather gloves when the temperature drops. These are easy to knit in DK-to-lighter worsted weight yarn. Make a pair for a gift, and one for yourself! Not interested in making mitts? You can still join the Yearlong Knitalong with an afghan block pattern from the Haus of Yarn Block-a-Month Afghan book.
Remember: attendance for Knitalong Mondays is always free! As a genuine 'thank you!' for your participation, all materials purchased at Haus of Yarn that relate directly to each month's knitalong will qualify for double stamps on our Haus of Yarn Reward Card. DOUBLE STAMPS! We really do appreciate your participation and want to encourage as many of you to make as many of the monthly projects as possible. Earning double stamps will make it that much easier! Not local? No worries! Join the Yearlong Knitalong virtually. We'll be creating threads for each Knitalong project in our Ravelry group. Click here to join our group and come knit along with us! We'd love to see your projects! In process or completed...if you're on Instagram, join in anytime with #yearlongknitalong and #hausofyarntn.
Save the Date! A Day with the Shepherd Trunk Show! Saturday, October 8th!
Plus: Free Patterns!
Francis Chester, the shepherd behind Cestari Wool Company is coming to Haus of Yarn! He'll be in the shop all day this Saturday, October 8th from 10-4, with a special presentation at 2 o'clock. Come hear the stories of the sheep, the wool and the cotton that come from one of our favorites! Let us reiterate: we love this yarn.
He'll be bringing ALL the yarns he makes (in ALL colorways), samples for you to try on, and sheepskins and woven blankets straight from the Cestari Farm in Virginia. You don't want to miss this -- we know we get excited about a lot of things, but this one is really exciting! And as if meeting Francis isn't enough...attendees will receive a raffle ticket for a chance to win yarn! YARN! And one lucky person will win a 100% Merino Wool Throw, made in the USA with American Merino!
Just for the event, two Haus-designed patterns using Cestari's Monticello will be available...for free! Monticello is a dk weight linen/cotton blend that is perfect for these baby car seat blankets (top photo). We've written one for crocheters and one for knitters, so no one's left out! Get your free copy on Saturday!

New Girl Trunk Show!
We're thrilled to be hosting a trunk show from Tot Toppers featuring the New Girl collection, a 5-piece knitted layette for the newest little lady. The designs are sized from preemie to toddler and they also include a variety of options for versatility. Knit the colorwork as shown, or simplify any design by working it in a color-changing yarn or replacing the stranded work with solid. The booklet includes technique instructions and tips for knitters stranding for the first time! New Girl patterns are available as a booklet or an e-book and individually as well. Samples will be on display in early October to whet your appetite. For this event, we ordered super soft Baby Smiles yarn from Schachenmayr -- a 100% merino wool that's easy to care for, super soft, free of chemicals and exceptionally soft - perfect for baby's tender skin.
