Mercedes Inspiration

If you haven't already heard the news, the incredibly talented knitwear designer Mercedes Tarasovich is coming to teach at Haus of Yarn! She'll be teaching Short Row Shaping on Sunday, July 24th from 10-1 and the cost is just $45! During this three-hour session, you'll learn four different methods of working short rows: classic wrap and turn, Japanese, shadow, and the yarnover method, and how to use these varied techniques to create shaping in your knitted projects. In anticipation of her arrival, we've cast on two of her designs, both perfect for summertime. The Driftwood Tee is a really simple design, with an uncomplicated lace pattern on both the front and back, which adds some visual interest to the basic shape. If you've never made yourself a sweater, this just might be the perfect first try!

Also on our needles: the Heliotropic Pullover. This one incorporates the use of slipped stitches that delicately spiral along the yoke of a simply shaped tee with a generous, fluid silhouette.

And coincidentally....we received a shipment of the perfect yarn for these two beauties just last week! Monticello from Cestari combines Virginia-grown cotton with French-grown flax to create a wonderfully, fluid blend. The cotton is incredibly drapey, and the flax adds strength and durability. We've got a basket full of different color options, so come choose your favorite and get started -- before you know it, you'll be tootling around town in your very own Mercedes!

Here are the details:

• For every three addi® Rocket fixed circular needles you purchase inside a North American LYS, you will receive one FREE addi® Rocket fixed circular needle of your choice by mail.
• The three addi® Rocket circulars may be obtained at different times and through different brick and mortar shops (online purchases excluded), but must be purchased between June 15th, 2016 and November 15th, 2016 to qualify. All requests need to be postmarked by November 30th, 2016.
• The original, shop-generated sales receipt/s clearly itemizing your addi® Rocket purchases and prices paid, must be submitted for each of the three needles – a single receipt containing multiple needles is acceptable.
