Stitches South

Yarn Hang-Over?

Is there such a thing as a yarn hang-over?  We've spent the last three-and-a-half loooonnng days manning the Yarn Bus at Stitches South and we had a blast. It was an amazing way to spend time visiting old friends, making new ones and just being surrounded by people who share one common passion: yarn!  One of the most beautiful gifts that comes with our hobby is getting the opportunity to cross paths with people we otherwise would never meet.  Strong friendships are formed during the process of transforming miles and miles of string into something beautiful!

To everyone that visited, a big "thank you"!  This year's event far exceeded our expectations; we plotted and planned for months -- selecting projects, ordering yarn, knitting and crocheting the samples, designing the booth, figuring out just where everything would go...and the list goes on. We were overjoyed and humbled as many of the kitted projects began to sell out.  We'll spend a few days getting over our "yarn hang-over" and start placing re-orders for those and we'll have them available for you who missed them just as soon as possible.

Maraschino Shawl

Fresh Off Our Needles!

The Maraschino Shawl is a simple, bottom-up shawl that begins with just a few stitches and can grow as wide as you want.  Just about any yarn in any gauge could be used for this one.  We chose Riva, a cotton blend in worsted weight.  This one is a two-ply yarn where both plies are variegated, adding even more interest!

April Knitalong

The Yearlong Knitalong: April!

Join us in store, today (!), April 4th at 11am for the fifth installment of the Haus of Yarn Yearlong Knitalong.  This month, we'll be working on a knitted pillow!  You get to design it yourself using one of the afghan block patterns from the Haus of Yarn Block-a-Month afghan book. Our goal this month is to hone those seaming skills!  Depending on the block pattern you choose for the front and back of the pillow, you'll have the chance to learn several different seaming techniques.  Not interested in making a pillow?  You can still join the Yearlong Knitalong with an afghan block pattern from the Haus of Yarn Block-a-Month Afghanbook.

As a genuine 'thank you!' for your participation, all materials purchased at Haus of Yarn that relate directly to each month's knitalong will qualify for double stamps on our Haus of Yarn Reward Card. DOUBLE STAMPS! We really do appreciate your participation and want to encourage as many of you to make as many of the monthly projects as possible.  Earning double stamps will make it that much easier!

Not local?  No worries!  Join the Yearlong Knitalong virtually.  We'll be creating threads for each Knitalong project in our Ravelry group.  Click here to join our group and come knit along with us!

We'd love to see your projects!  In process or completed...if you're on Instagram, join in anytime with #yearlongknitalong and #hausofyarntn.
