Let's Get Ready for Fall!

Uh, the official start of Fall is this Thursday! Are you ready? It's still ninety-something degrees out there but we all know cooler temperatures are, in fact, coming. Light Gale, from designer Alicia Plummer, is a favorite silhouette of ours -- a poncho with lots of room to move around, intended to be worn with positive ease. The perfect transition piece for when there's a chill in the air but it's not quite cool enough for a coat, Light Gale is worked in two pieces -- bottom up, seamed at the shoulders, and then stitches are picked up along the two sides and neck to complete the ribbing. We used the clever leather removable closures from Jul to hold the two sides together. Since they're removable, you'll be able to remove them when it becomes necessary to launder your poncho and gives you unlimited styling options!

We knit our sample using Vintage from Berroco. With a wide color range, an incredibly soft feel, great yardage per skein and a fiber blend that makes laundering a breeze, Vintage has become an instant staple yarn for us. The 48" sized sample was knit using just five skeins, in the color "Oats"

Save the Date! A Day with the Shepherd Trunk Show!

Francis Chester, the shepherd behind Cestari Wool Company is coming to Haus of Yarn! Come hear the stories of the sheep, the wool and the cotton that come from one of our favorites! Let us reiterate: we love this yarn.

Francis will be bringing ALL the yarns he makes (in ALL colorways), samples for you to try on, and sheepskins and woven blankets straight from the Cestari Farm in Virginia. Francis will be in the shop all day Saturday, October 8th! More details to follow, but for now...save the date! You don't want to miss this -- we know we get excited about a lot of things, but this one is really exciting!

 

 

Who Needs a New Project Bag? You Do!

Just in: these adorable woodland retreat-themed project and notions pouches! These bags are every bit as cute as they are functional. The project bag measures 11.75" x 6.75" and is perfect for toting around a work in progress. There's a small, flat zippered pouch that is 7" x 4.5" and can be tucked inside the project bag, but it's cute, so you probably won't want to hide it! There's also a gusseted notions pouch that is 7" x 3" and is perfect for holding all those notions needed for on-the-go crafting. All three are 100% linen with a waxed coating to protect what's treasured inside! 

 

 

The Yarn Bus Goes to Jackson

A quick note about the awesome Yarn Bus trip to Jackson this Saturday, Sept. 24...Because of a scheduling conflict, there won't be a Jackson trip in October, so now's the time to let us know if you need anything in particular for holiday knitting. After this Saturday, the bus won't be back until late November! So call the shop at 615-354-1007 and we're happy to load the bus up with any special requests!

Here are the details:

• For every three addi® Rocket fixed circular needles you purchase inside a North American LYS, you will receive one FREE addi® Rocket fixed circular needle of your choice by mail.
• The three addi® Rocket circulars may be obtained at different times and through different brick and mortar shops (online purchases excluded), but must be purchased between June 15th, 2016 and November 15th, 2016 to qualify. All requests need to be postmarked by November 30th, 2016.
• The original, shop-generated sales receipt/s clearly itemizing your addi® Rocket purchases and prices paid, must be submitted for each of the three needles – a single receipt containing multiple needles is acceptable.
